Our Last Freaky Friday

It's our last Freaky Friday for 2016 (sad face)!  We have had so much fun with our FUN friends bringing fabulous $1 deals to you.
For our last $1 deal we are giving our 3-5 friends a shout out.  (If you know a 3-5 teacher, let them know about this!)  This week we have a special November celebration product.
Susan has a good friend that was a long term sub in 5th grade one year.  She needed help getting the kids ready for the state Social Studies test.  So Susan stepped up and made several Social Studies units for her.  Veterans Day is one of them. (You can see the others here.)  There are 15 units so far!
This resource is automatically differentiated for you! There are several levels of worksheets for you to choose from plus interactive activities. You can see all the pages included by clicking on the preview or click here and then click "preview".  Below is one example of a FUN word search  for vocabulary.
This is an example of one of the writing activities.
There is a student version of the informational reader to use for finding information for the different activities.
Students are asked to read carefully for details.
Here is a page from the informational "teacher" read aloud. Use this to build background knowledge.

There's more! Interactive vocabulary activities!
Susan's friend said the kids loved the units and they all passed the test!

Happy Halloween!!

Happy Halloween, FUN Followers!
Halloween is and always has been one of our favorite holidays!  Susan loves to dress up in costumes!  She does not need a holiday though!  Here she is as Mother Goose reading to our classes.
The children loved it, but I think she loved it more!

SEEING the cute costumes is not the only thing I like about Halloween!  I also like going through my own kids goodie bags and picking out as much chocolate as I think I can talk them out of.

In our classroom we also have fun  at Halloween time.  One thing our kids like to do during center time is Scrambled Sentences.

Each sentence has a different picture that goes with the sentence.

They work together to make the words make sense.

When they finish manipulating the cards they get a Build a Sentence worksheet.
There are still words to manipulate by cutting and pasting them in the right order then writing the sentence on the writing lines.

This is just one of the fun  things we have planned for Halloween!

Practice Those Sight Words With FREE Sampler!

I don't know about your class but mine needs all of the sight word practice they can get.  Of course it has to be "FUN" and not just flashcards.  Sooooo..... we made these practice books that they can take home when they are finished with cutting, pasting and writing those pesky words.  We wanted something that forced our kiddos to look at the individual letters that make up the word. We also wanted them to recognize the word when it's surrounded by other words.  I will say they have been a big hit.  The kids enjoy taking home books that they can read to their parent.  (An extra perk is it also lets mom know what to help with!)

Students cut the letters on the bottom of the page and glue them in the boxes, then trace and circle the word in the sentence.

Each booklet has about 20 words.  The booklets are organized by the Dolch word lists.  We wanted a way to keep track of the words they know so we added a page to record that data in each booklet.  See below.
You can download list 3 booklet for free by clicking on the picture below.

To see the bundle of lists 1-5 click this picture.
To see the bundle of lists 6-11 click this picture.

We hope you have as much FUN with these sight words as we do!

Get Your Freak On With Some Great $1 Deals

It's our annual Freaky Friday Sale with some of our Facebook besties.  Every Friday in October we will be offering you some great products for only $1!

This week we have Scary Short Vowel activities for you.  Our kids had so much fun "playing" with these Halloween themed activities. (It's not too early is it?)

They identified the short vowel sounds in the pictures and put a clip on them.

Don't you just love our tablecloth??

After they finished with the clip cards they got a cut and paste Halloween word vocabulary sheet where they colored the word, built the word and wrote the word.

Other activities not pictured are making the words with magnetic letters and short vowel crowns (we'll make those next week!)

To get this 60 page unit for $1 click on any of the pictures above.

We'll be back next Friday with more Freaky Friday $1 Deals!

Kindergartners Learning to Write Their Names!

New school year is here and I am forever looking for authentic ways for my kinders to write their names. One way is by writing their name on our daily/weekly graphs. Look at the pictures and you will see those who can write, those who don't have a clue and those who write completely backwards. This is primarily due to the new Kindergarten Daily Writing activities. I am able to print the exact pages each child needs which makes differentiation a breeze! Some students are still working on fine motor skills while others are ready to write on lines. Just take a look! Click on pictures to see the resources.
     Until next time...
